Sages of the New Covenant

Periannan Dr Savarirayan Jesudason, F.R.C.S. and Dr E Stanley Jones wrote lot of hymns in English. But most of them are not being sung now days, even in some of Christian ashrams.
This page is an attempt to revive the Ashram Hymnals singing. I have posted few lyrics and I encourage people to use these lyrics in their worships.
Based on the Tune that is given for each lyrics, you may bring out music albums, with due courtesy those who have written them. Our Best Wishes !!!

Tune – ROCKINGHAM L.M.
Tamizh Lyric by H A Krishnapillai
English Translation by Periannan Dr Savarrayan Jesudason, FRCS
Courtesy: Hymn no. 269, Christ-kula Ashram
1. Unfaithful mean, I may be
Upon me he did flood His grace,
The Spotless One Presence Divine,
Honey Sweet within my heart,
Life of my life, a crystal pure,
Never this fruit satiates my soul,
Upon the Cross I now behold!
2. To Him in worship up the skies,
Angelic hosts with shouts of praise
Loud peals of heavenly anthems raise,
Irradiant alone upon His face,
The Father’s holy glorious grace,
He left in all and became Man,
This Saviour from our sins disgrace
Upon the Cross I now behold!
3. And as they mocked in jeering tones,
And nailed Him to the bitter Cross
E’ven for these evil worker’s throng;
In loving earnest tones He prayed,
‘Father! Forgive their ignorant deeds,
They know not what they are doing.
This spake my Lord, exquisite sweet,
My God upon the Cross I see!
4. So bare it was my evil heart,
Like follow and all filled with thorns,
But now refreshing showers have come.
When He in love for me has sent,
And He wrought His wondrous power,
His saving grace, His glorious power,
Ever in selfless work engaged,
Upon the Cross I now behold !

Tune – WAREHAM L.M.
Lyric by Periannan Dr Savarrayan Jesudason, FRCS
Courtesy: Hymn No. 101, Christ-kula Ashram
1. O love of God in flood, out poured
O grace of God in form revealed
O heart’s delight I thee adore
Prostrate before Thy lotus feet.
2. Foe ever Thine O father mine
From Thee astray how dare I roam?
Like lotus buds my heart I weave
As garland round Thy precious feet.
3. Through oft in sinful mire I fell
Through weakness of my flesh and will,
In gentle pardoning love Thou com’st
To lift and hug me to Thy breast.
4. And times when tempest rages fierce
From over mastering lure of fresh
And worldly pleasures anger lust,
O plant my feet firm in Thy love.
5. Help me my passion sublimate
Refine them at Thu altar’s fire
O love divine to Thee I cling
Away from lurking danger spots.
6. Shall life or death, shall earth or heaven
Present or past, angels or men,
Or any creatures High or low
Separate me from love of God.

Tune – AZMON: CM 8686 - “O for a thousand tongues to sing”
Lyric by Bishop Stanley E Downes
Composed on 10th June 2000 during the 70th Anniversary of Sat Tal Christian Ashram
1. Jesus is Lord, My Lord, My God;
No other Lord I own;
To Him I yield heart, mind and strength,
I do not walk alone.
2. Jesus is Lord. By Faith in Him
I live in storm or strife;
On dusty plain or mountain path:
The way, the Truth, the Life.
3. Jesus is Lord. He is my Hope.
Thy kingdom come, I pray:
Through mist and darkening clouds I see
God’s light breaks through always.
4. Jesus is Lord. His Love Supreme
Surpasses all I know,
And blinds me to my Father God,
To neighbour here below.
5. Jesus is Lord. Beneath His Cross
I lay each burden down,
To bear His Cross from day to day,
Till I receive His Crown.
