Sages of the New Covenant
Before you commit yourself for a serious reading, Swamiji puts before you two questions?
A. Kill someone at one go.
B. Torture someone to death; but not allowing them to die.
If your answer to the first question is ‘No’ and if your choice to the second question is ‘B’, then this article is a must and you should continue reading this article.
We learn from 1 John 4:8, GOD IS LOVE. If God is love, would He permit perennial tormenting in the Hell? Christians are made to believe that in Hell the tormentation is forever, as Revelation 14: 10 and 11 say the following:
“he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
The Greek word that is translated into eternal is "aionion." It comes from the Greek root "aion" meaning "age" and ‘period of time’. This fact combined with the various uses of Greek words derived from the root "aion". The Greek word “aionion" does not always mean "eternal" but can refer to a finite period of time. For example, Jude 1:7 says as follows:
“as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” – Jude 1:7
According to the Torah, the kingdoms of Sodom and Gomorrah were allied with the cities of Admah, Zeboim and Bela. These five cities, also known as the "cities of the plain", were situated on the Jordan River plain in the southern region of the land of Canaan. The plain, which corresponds to the area just north of the modern-day Dead Sea (Ref. Smith, William , "Sodom", Smith's Bible Dictionary, Retrieved 2011-08-15), was compared to the garden of Eden[Ref. Gen.13:10] as being a land well-watered and green, suitable for grazing livestock.
Are Sodam and Gomorrah still ablaze? It was in flame during Lot’s period and the once the destruction of Sodam and Gomorrah was completed, the fire got extinguished. Hence, the "aionion" mentioned in Jude 1:7 is not perpetual in nature; but refers to a particular period of time (age) – till all the souls condemned are destroyed once for all, which is a loving act.
Perennial tormenting of the condemned souls in Hell will make God unbecoming of His very nature – LOVE.
The Kingdom of God is not a belief in eternal hell. It is the experience of the universal presence of God, during ones’ life time. Temporary Hell during his / her life time or temporary Hell after one’s life time are two sides of purgatory. After the creation of New Heaven and New Earth, for the New Adams and the New Eves would inherit the New Heaven and New Earth. Those souls who remain unchanged even in purgatory will be destroyed permanently (annihilated) once for all, as per the following:
Jesus was referring to New Covenant, New Heart, and New Jerusalem. The Old covenants were restricted to the Jews; whereas the New Covenant is universally available to everyone. The Old Jerusalem is a worship capital of the Judeans; whereas the New Jerusalem is for the citizens of the World, which include people of all Faith. In fact New Jerusalem is the re-entry of humanity into Garden of Eden. The New Sky and New Earth denote living in the universal presence of God (Ref. Revelation 11:15 - And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, the kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever.). It goes beyond the fear of hell and the greedy desire for heaven. It is living in an environment, where sacred scriptures of the religions have no value, as religions, sacred books came after the fall of humanity (forgetting the original state of their creation).
During his childhood days, Swamiji had a Vision. In that Vision, God showed him that after making a planet (most probably planet Mars) unfit for habitation, Homo sapiens left that planet with divine help to start a New Life on the planet Earth. He did not understand the spiritual aspect of this Vision then and dismissed it as a fantasy of a little boy. Now this panspermia is being confirmed by the experiments done on Mars. Panspermia could just be a hypothesis; but one thing is sure, once the human beings makes the Earth unfit for human living, God will prepare the next planet (possibly Venus) for human domicile.
My late friend Prof. Asiananda was of the opinion that the New Jerusalem will be the New Indraprastha; but he died early of a sudden heart-attack without giving any reasons for his claim.
York is a historic walled city at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, UK and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. But New York has nothing to do geographically with York. Hence, the New Jerusalem too will have nothing to do with Jerusalem and it would be futile on the part of humanity to glorify the agenda of the Jews.
Even if the New Heaven and New Earth has to be formed once again in the planet Earth, it need not be in Jerusalem, as the New Jerusalem will be a divine created city.!
